Your nervous system is depleted.
It sounds like you’ve been extra stretched and your body is asking for rest and replenishment. This is a sign that you’ve likely been in “survival mode” for too long and your system needs a chance to rest.
What this means
When the nervous system is depleted, it often shows up as:
Chronic tension and aches that don’t fully ease. This can feel like a chronically tight neck and need to constantly crack it or others joints. It’s chronic tension held in your body.
Common feelings whilst depleted: apathetic, sadness, irritability, anger. You’re more emotionally reactive here. You usually have considerably less emotional bandwidth. I’ve been here whilst building out this quiz.
A compromised immune system that has been weakened and suppressed. Increased chances of getting sick.
Increased reliance on stimulants and drugs to ‘get through the day’ E.g. Coffee/Alcohol

Strategies to support your nervous system
Your body is asking for deep nourishment and to slow down. These practices invite the nervous system to feel safe, calm, and restored.
Ocean
The ocean is full body immersion into nature. Head to toe. It cleanses and refreshes you . This is an imperative item in my toolkit for restoration.
Shin Roku (Forest Bathing)
A Japanese practice of immersing yourself in nature for healing. It has been common practice for me to book a cabin in the bush after I’ve burnt myself out over the years.
Massage & Acupuncture
The longer you can have your nervous system in a Parasympathetic state (rest and digest) the quicker you recover. Think low heart rate activities, releasing physical tension in the body, releasing emotional tension in the body. Lower your stress and improve your sleep.
Breathwork
Find a class. Find a practitioner for one on one practice. Practice box breathing (inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4) repeat for 5mins. If Navy SEALS are taught Box Breathing to down regulate into calm and focus then it’s time you acknowledge how your breathe affects your body.
