A Little About Me
The experience and lessons I’ve learnt over the past 5 years as a Remedial Massage Therapist has changed my life. However, my understanding and learnings of the Nervous System has been a 31 year journey. Learning when to push and when to rest, and how to create safety in the body, has become central to how I work and support my clients. I want to support you in becoming more intimate with your own nervous system so you have a greater toolkit to pull from when you need to implement more balance and grounding.
It wasn’t until about 28 I stated to put the dots together.
The stress my body was under during the shut down of our society in 2020 led to Alopecia in my hair and beard. I started to down regulate receiving massage and acupuncture more regularly. My Alopecia dissipated. First lesson, everybody has a different and many stress responses.
Acupuncture started to teach me I was running hot, trapped heat. Possibly supressed emotion. It made sense. Schema Therapy in Therapy at a similar time was teaching me I had scored strongly for emotional inhibition, conditioning from a young age where I subconsciously felt it wasn’t safe to express emotion.
This whirlwind brought me back 10 years to an appointment for Chronic Acne in my teens. At 18 I saw an Integrative GP that found that my microbiome was so heavily disrupted that I was clinically depressed on paper. The standout question from the Integrative GP – any big emotional events/stressors? (At 18 I laughed and said no) 10+ years later I’m learning differently.
This has been a life long journey of understanding how to balance my own Nervous System. I’ve found an inner peace in learning to do so and this understanding is what allows me to support others. The biggest lesson massage has taught me is that your cup must be full before you can pour from it.
